Teen accidentally shoots self in west Detroit home, police say

A teen accidentally shot himself Saturday with a gun he found in a home on Detroit’s west side, police said.

Officials said the shooting happened at about 3:20 p.m. in the area of Greenfield and Schoolcraft roads.

The teen was taken to a hospital with a wound that is not believed to be life-threatening, investigators said.

Police said the shooting remains under investigation. Other details were not released.

Elsewhere over the weekend, a 9-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the hand with an unsecured handgun in a Madison Heights home, authorities said.
