The Miami Marlins (11-31) and Detroit Tigers (20-20) begin a 3-game series Monday with 1st pitch from Comerica Park slated for 6:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Marlins vs. Tigers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Marlins won 2 of 3 in 2023

Miami snapped a 5-game losing streak Sunday with a 7-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. 1B Josh Bell had a 3-run HR and after the Marlins blew a 6-3 lead, it was 3B Emmanuel Rivera who delivered a pinch-hit game-winning single in the 10th inning. It’s only the 6th home win for Miami this season.

The Tigers dropped the rubber match of their series against the Houston Astros 9-3 on Sunday. RHP Justin Verlander dominated his former team striking out 8 over 7 scoreless innings. The only offense Detroit could muster was a 2-run shot from 1B Spencer Torkelson in the bottom of the 9th. The Tigers are 5-3 in interleague.

Marlins at Tigers picks and predictions

Prediction

Tigers 7, Marlins 4

Moneyline.

PASS.

I like the Tigers to handle their business at home against the worst team in baseball. I’m going to focus my wager on the run line in this one.

Run line/Against the spread

BET TIGERS -1.5 (+128).

Detroit has been beaten up lately by some of the best teams in the American League. They’ve dropped their last 3 series to the New York Yankees, Astros and Cleveland Guardians. Now, the Marlins come to town with the worst record in baseball. This is the time to get right and hopefully at least win the series if not sweep them at Comerica.

The Marlins run differential on the season is -89, they aren’t just losing games, they are getting throttled. Miami has dropped 8 of their last 9 road games.

Over/Under

BET OVER 8 (-110).

All the trends point to this game smashing the Over. They’ve gone Over the total in 2 of their last 3 meetings. The Marlins are 8-2 against the Over in their last 10, while the Detroit is 4-1 in their last 5.

You’ve also got basically a long reliever starting for Miami against a pretty pedestrian arm for the Tigers. We should see runs produced in this one.
