An investigation remained ongoing after a airline worker was struck by a vehicle on the tarmac last week, said representatives for Delta Airlines and Detroit Metro Airport.

The Wayne County Airport Authority police and fire departments responded to a collision of a catering vehicle and pedestrian Wednesday morning on the airfield, said Matt Morawski, the director of communications and external affairs for Detroit Metro Airport. He said the Fire Department transported the pedestrian, who was an airport worker, to the hospital.

He said a suspect had been taken into custody.

The airport can’t provide additional information because an investigation was ongoing, he said.

Delta said an employee was “involved in an accident with a catering truck in Detroit.”

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our people and customers and we will fully investigate what happened,” a statement from Delta said.
