Father of Michigan State student recounts hours before shooting: “I just can’t get my mind wrapped around it”
(CBS DETROIT) – On Monday, Bob Lees had dinner along with his son, who attends Michigan State College. A couple of hours later, his son suggested him to not return to the college.
“I dropped him off on the dorm at 6 p.m. (Monday), and I went to East Lansing Excessive College to recruit. I got here out of the highschool at about 8:15, 8:20 with every kind of sirens and chaos. He instantly referred to as me and says “Dad, do not come again over,” stated Lees, who’s an assistant basketball coach at Oakland Neighborhood School.
“… The worst a part of it I could not get into campus, so I needed to drive again to right here (Oakland Neighborhood School).”
Lees, who helps his son coach the ladies’s basketball staff, considers himself grateful by a divine presence.
“I’m blessed. I’ve three boys, and I discuss to them every day, and I get to work with one in every of them. And my coronary heart simply breaks for these dad and mom,” he stated.
Whereas the occasions of the tragedies that occurred Monday can by no means be erased, Lees finds it onerous not to consider what might’ve occurred to him and what did not.
