Dry, sunny pattern builds this weekend in Metro Detroit, persists into next week

Metro Detroit is getting a cloudy and warmer-than-average start to Friday.

We could see a few breaks in the clouds later this afternoon. We will be a few degrees cooler today in the wake of a cold front, but still warmer than where we should be for early February with highs in the upper 30s.

The cloud cover helped because Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring in Gobbler’s Knob, Pennsylvania!

Sunrise is at 7:46 a.m. and sunset is at 5:48 p.m.

A dry, milder, and sunnier pattern builds this weekend and will persist through the middle of next week as high pressure holds firm over the Great Lakes.

Sunshine is expected to return this weekend as high temperatures rise back into the low to mid-40s and stay there into early next week. We could see the warm-up continue by the end of the week with temperatures flirting with 50.

Nationally, the atmospheric river moisture from the Pacific storm will bring heavy rain and more flooding concerns to southern California with heavy snow spreading over the Rockies. Above-average temperatures will continue across the Plains and Mississippi Valley.
