The NHL trade deadline 2024 has passed, and the Detroit Red Wings were not a major player in the mass player swap around the league.
General manager Steve Yzerman made one move, shipping out forward Klim Kostin to the San Jose Sharks for minor league defenseman Radim Simek and New Jersey’s 2024 seventh-round pick.
Outside of that deal, the Red Wings didn’t make any last-minute additions to the roster. The Wings are currently tied for the first wild card in the Eastern Conference with Tampa Bay at 72 points, two points ahead of the New York Islanders.

Detroit will instead rely on its depth as currently constructed to try to push for their first playoff appearance since 2016. The Red Wings could also rely on their strong prospect pool in Grand Rapids for a potential addition.
