Detroit City FC scores three goals in four minutes for win in Phoenix

Detroit City Football Club continued to pick up points on the road on Saturday.

Le Rouge (3-2-1) ralled for a 3-2 win against Phoenix Rising FC in Phoenix to record nine out of a possible 12 road points with a 2-0 loss to Louisville City the only time they’ve dropped points away from home.

Trailing 2-0 in the second half, DCFC scored three goals in four minutes. Darren Smith recorded back-to-back goals at the 87- and 89-minute marks and Jeciel Cedeno added the winner at 90 minutes.

Le Rouge, which outshot Phoenix 15-11 with an 8-3 edge in corner kicks, returns to Keyworth Stadium on Wednesday for third-round action of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Kickoff against USL League One side Westchester SC is set for 7 p.m.

League play continues at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday as DCFC takes on Eastern Conference rival Rhode Island FC at 4 p.m.
