Capitals celebrate Charlie Lindgren’s win over Detroit in locker room with new nickname: ‘Ch! ‘
Charlie Lindgren was the difference-maker in the Washington Capitals’ 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.
The game’s First Star stopped 17 shots in the first period, 10 in the second, and 15 in the third before giving up a goal to Patrick Kane with less than two seconds remaining in regulation. The victory not only ended up a six-game losing streak, but catapulted the Capitals into the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Inside the victorious locker room after the game, Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery gave shoutouts to his players. Lindgren got an especially warm reaction from his teammates where it appears he’s earned a new nickname: Ch!
Here’s what went down.
Spencer Carbery: Two guys step up and make big plays. Shoot it in the back of the net. Stromer, O, big goals.
Ovechkin points to Strome as applause fills the room.

Agreed. It is pretty catchy.
You can call him Chuckie. You can call him The Outlaw. You can even call him Ch. Regardless of which nickname you go with, make sure to call Charle Lindgren one other thing: the Capitals’ MVP this season.
