Broadcaster has major praise for Detroit Lions fans at Ford Field

DETROIT – An ESPN broadcaster had major praise for Detroit Lions fans who were at Ford Field last weekend for the playoff game against the Buccaneers.

Steve Levy was at the game Sunday as the Lions took down the Buccaneers to advance to the NFC Championship Game. He said the atmosphere inside Ford Field might have been the best he’s witnessed in the NFL.

“Only now has my headache gone away,” Levy tweeted Monday afternoon. “Ford Field yesterday was the loudest stadium I’ve ever been in. And yet the silence, when the Lions were on ‘Goffense’ was remarkable. Fewest visiting fans I’ve ever seen at major sporting event. Might just be the best gameday experience in the NFL. Well done Detroit.”

Lions fans have waited decades to support a winning team, and now that they’ve got one, they did not disappoint. Honolulu Blue took over several opposing stadiums this season, and the first two playoff games in the history of Ford Field were raucous.

In the first round against Matthew Stafford and the Rams, Ford Field reached 133.6 decibels, which is one of the loudest recorded crowds in history.

Sunday’s divisional round was the last game at Ford Field this season, and fans obviously made the most of it.
