Brighton bike ride honors Metro Detroit Man killed by a distracted driver

Household and associates collect for the Do it for Dan memorial bike trip at Island Lake Park

BRIGHTON, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) –  A motorcycle trip to honor a person who was killed by a distracted driver was held at Island Lake State Park in Brighton. 

The Do It for Dan Memorial Experience introduced out family and friends who gathered to lift consciousness about distracted driving.

On this lovely day, those that knew and remembered Dan Horal received set to trip by Island Lake Park for his or her beloved buddy, and member of the family. It was a spot that he liked to go to.

“Dan was my older brother. He and I, we used to trip a whole lot of miles collectively each summer time on our bicycles right here in Island Lake Park in Kensington,” stated Invoice Horal, Dan Horal’s brother.

These bike rides with household would tragically finish in Might of 2019 after a distracted driver hit him and ended his life.

“A person texting made a left-hand flip proper into my brother,” stated Invoice Horal. “He had simply began his trip and the man wasn’t even conscious he hit him.”

Dan Horal’s family members are decided to verify his legacy lives on.  The Do It for Dan memorial bike trip does not simply commemorate his life, it raises cash for scholarships and consciousness for distracted driving.

Dan’s sister Jane was among the many many in attendance feeling a deep loss. She is now turning her ache to advocating for more durable distracted driving legal guidelines. 

“Till one thing like this occurs to you, you don’t have any thought,” stated Jane Horal. “And once more we simply wish to ensure this does not occur to anybody. Even the individual that hit Dan, did not set out to try this that day.”
