Tier 3 sex offender arrested after standoff in Brunswick
BRUNSWICK, Ohio (WOIO) – A 37-year-old Cleveland man was arrested Monday after a standoff inside his girlfriend’s apartment.
Brunswick police said the woman called police just after 2 p.m. Monday and said her boyfriend, Matthew Rucker, had assaulted her.
When police arrived in the 4200 block of Manhattan Ave., officers said they learned Rucker was armed with a pistol and was refusing to leave the apartment.
When officers were unable to make contact with Rucker, they called the Southwest Enforcement Bureau (S.E.B.) to the scene.
Rucker finally surrendered at 9:22 p.m. Monday and was taken into custody, said police.
He is currently charged with assault and additional charges are pending.
Rucker is a Tier 3 sex offender and his criminal history includes, rape, kidnapping, menacing, escape, and assorted drug charges added police.
Brunswick firefighters, Brunswick Hills police and firefighters also assisted at the scene.
