Thousands of protesters against Trump, Musk gather at ‘Hands Off!’ rallies across NE Ohio

NORTHEAST OHIO (WOIO) – Protesters gathered across northeast Ohio, and the United States, on Saturday to protest President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

According to the Associated Press, Hands Off! demonstrations were organized for more than 1,200 locations in all 50 states by more than 150 groups including civil rights organizations, labor unions, LBGTQ+ advocates, veterans and elections activists.

19 News was on scene or got viewer videos in Akron, Cleveland, Kent, Chagrin Falls, Strongsville, and more.

The protests were all peaceful and even had some local and state politicians attend.

“Our values are not changing. Akron’s values are not changing,” said Mayor Shammas Malik at the Akron “Hands Off!” protest. “We hear you and we are here for you.”

“It’s not okay to come after our veterans, it’s not okay to come after our libraries and our books, it’s not okay to come after Medicaid that covers millions of Ohioans,” said State Senator Casey Weinstein. “It’s not okay to come after our social security that my in laws depend on.”

19 News has reached out to the Republican Party of Ohio for a response to the protests but we have not yet heard back.
