CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The mother at the center of the murder of a 5-year-old this week has been booked into jail Sunday evening.

Pammy Maye, 48, was booked into the Cuyahoga County Jail around 5 p.m. Sunday.

Maye was booked on charges of murder, child endangering, and kidnapping, according to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office.

Maye is charged in connection to the murder of 5-year-old Darnell Taylor. Maye was the legal guardian of Taylor at the time of his death.

The AMBER Alert for Taylor was canceled as of 6:54 a.m. Friday morning. The Alert started just after 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say suspect Pammy Maye was arrested by Brooklyn Police around 9:30 p.m. after a business owner reported a woman walking suspiciously around a building. 19 News reporters confirmed it was a Cenveo employee that made the call.

Brooklyn police Lt. Cindy Eschweiler, in a statement provided to 19 News, said officers received a 911 call in which the Cenvo employee said Maye was “distraught and crying.”

Maye was treated at a Cleveland hospital directly after her arrest.

During an interview with Maye, police got a location for Taylor’s body.

Taylor’s biological grandmother spoke out against the system that kept her grandson in Maye’s care Saturday.

She hopes police and the courts can bring justice for Darnell’s death.
