Shaker Heights man dies 1 week after shooting on Cleveland’s West Side

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A 28-year-old man died one week after a shooting in Cleveland, according to police officials.

Cleveland police Sgt. Wilfredo Diaz says the shooting originally happened at 8:47 p.m. on Jan. 26 in the 10800 block of Almira Avenue, in the city’s West Boulevard neighborhood. Cleveland EMS transported the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to MetroHealth Medical Center.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the 28-year-old, identified as Lorenzo Burgess, of Shaker Heights, died Feb. 2.

Diaz confirmed the shooting is now being investigated as a homicide. There are no known suspects.
