Penguins Win 10 Events But Fall Short at Cleveland State – Youngstown State University

Cleveland, Ohio – The Youngstown State men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs won 10 events but came up short in their Horizon League matchup with Cleveland State at the Busbey Natatorium on Saturday.

The women were defeated by the Vikings, 179-121, while the men lost 182-116.

Miriam Frass led the women’s team with three individual event victories, winning each individual event she competed in. She opened the day with a victory in the 1000 free by clocking a 10:38.68. Frass followed that up by winning the 200 free with a time of 1:56.22 before earning a victory in the 500 free with a time of 5:11.68.

The women also swept both diving events with Dasha Toth earning the victory in the three-meter dive with a score of 230.70 and Hanna Held winning the one-meter dive, scoring a 258.00.

James Slessor led the men’s team by sweeping the breaststroke events. He clocked a 57.40 to win the 100 breast and a 2:05.94 in his victory in the 200 breast.

Gavin Redden also earned a victory for the men, clocking a 46.19 in the 100 free. Gavin Webb touched first in the 500 free with a time of 4:42.01. Webb also finished second in the 1000 free as he clocked a 9:39.95.

Aleksa Radenovic picked up a victory in the 100 fly, swimming a time of 50.00. Like Webb, Radenovic also added a second-place finish to his victory by clocking a 1:52.10 in the 200 fly.

The Penguins’ diving team will return to action at the West Virginia Invite in Morgantown W.Va. on Nov. 16-Nov. 18. The swimmers and divers will be back together to compete at the Miami (OH) Invite from Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at the Nixon Aquatic Center in Oxford, Ohio.
