OVI suspect passed out behind the wheel: Westlake Police Blotter

A witness called the police department at 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 28 to report that a man was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the intersection of Detroit and Bradley roads.
Officers discovered the driver had passed out and was drooling while his foot was on the brake and the gear shift was in drive. Once the suspect woke up, the officer asked the 32-year-old Avon resident if he had been drinking “a lot” that night. The driver replied, “Oh, yeah,” according to a police press release.
The driver was field tested and arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. An alcohol breath test revealed the man’s blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.
Vehicle break-ins and thefts: Clemens Road
Officers at 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 17 learned that three vehicles had broken windows at the Holiday Inn Express on Clemens, and they soon received a call from a guest at the Doubletree hotel down the street whose vehicle was forcibly entered.
Officers soon located an abandoned Kia with a damaged steering column running in that lot.
After reviewing surveillance video, officers concluded that at 4:45 a.m. that morning, a Hyundai stolen from Cleveland entered the Holiday Inn parking lot carrying a group of people who broke into four cars in the lot. One man stole the Kia out of the Holiday Inn lot. This was soon abandoned at the Doubletree.
At the Doubletree, the group broke into three vehicles and stole a Ford F150 pickup truck, which was recovered in Cleveland the following day at Kinsman Avenue and Bundy Drive. The stolen vehicle was found when officers responded to a call about shots being fired.
Two juveniles, ages 13 and 15, were arrested in the stolen F150 by Cleveland officers.
Theft: Crocker Park
Officers at 1 p.m. on Sept. 17 responded to Trader Joe’s regarding a shopper who reported that her wallet was lifted out of her purse that had been in her shopping cart.
There were no cameras inside the market, according to a police press release.
Gun violations: I-90
At 2 a.m. on Sept. 18, officers stopped a vehicle on I-90 for equipment violations and ended up arresting two occupants on weapons charges.
Officers found four occupants in the vehicle, two handguns, and some suspected marijuana.
A 21-year-old male passenger from Cleveland was arrested and transferred to the Garfield Heights Police Department on a misdemeanor warrant.
A 26-year-old female passenger from Euclid was arrested for felony possession of weapons under disability because she was not allowed to possess a gun due to prior felony convictions.
A 32-year-old female passenger from Cleveland was arrested for misdemeanor carrying a concealed handgun.
The driver was released at the scene with the vehicle.
