COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State has finally found its 2026 quarterback commit.

Four-star Luke Fahey committed to the Buckeyes Thursday, ending a long search that had the coaching staff searching far and wide for its next signal-caller.

Fahey is the No. 356 overall prospect and No. 24 quarterback in the class, per the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also the No. 33 overall prospect from California.

From Mission Viejo, he chose the Buckeyes over Indiana and Stanford. It was unclear if the Buckeyes would indeed offer him a scholarship after his visit, but the offer meant a lot to Fahey and it led to a commitment.

Ohio State offered him a scholarship after his official visit on June 20, a sign that both he and the program were comfortable with each other entering the most important part of the recruiting calendar. Now, he’s set to be a Buckeye.

And, he’ll have a bevy of receiving options to throw to in the class as Ohio State has a host of talented wideouts — including five-star Chris Henry Jr. and four-star Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, who both attend Mater Dei in California.

Listed at 6-foot, 185 pounds, Fahey has been a solid starter for Mission Viejo. Per 247Sports, he threw for 1,638 yards with 17 touchdowns and zero interceptions in his junior season in 2024. He also went 105 for 137 passing, a 76.64% completion percentage.

He recently led Mission Viejo to a passing tournament championship in California.

The state of California has been kind to Ohio State in recent years, as former five-star Julian Sayin enrolled at Ohio State after just a few weeks at Alabama. Former Heisman Trophy finalist and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year C.J. Stroud was from California as well.

Ohio State has a 2027 commitment from another California quarterback, Brady Edmunds. Now, it has a 2026 commit in Fahey.
