COLUMBUS, Ohio — The most painful flip of Ohio State’s class could come at the last possible second.

Five-star defensive lineman Eddrick Houston, ranked the No. 26 player in the 2024 class and the No. 5 player along the defensive line per the 247Sports composite rankings, is reportedly leaning toward a flip to Alabama on National Signing Day.

Update: Houston officially signed with Ohio State on Wednesday afternoon.

247Sports reported that Alabama was in the lead for Houston Wednesday morning.

Houston would be the second five-star decommitment up front for Ohio State on the defensive side of the ball. Justin Scott decommitted to head for Miami earlier in the cycle.

Houston’s decommitment from Ohio State would leave the Buckeyes with just one defensive lineman in the 2024 class in three-star Eric Mensah, ranked No. 774 in the 247Sports composite rankings. It would also mark a disastrous defensive line cycle for Ohio State, a program that would have neither the quality nor quantity it needs up front.

The Buckeyes entered the day with 21 commits in the 2024 class.
