Ohio city makes Top 5 in Best Cities for Recreation

When it’s time to unwind, it’s important to have a range of recreational options available near you. Maybe you take a stroll at a local park, visit a neighborhood coffee shop, go for a bike ride, or all of the above.

Whatever your preference, recreation is important. Fortunately for those in Ohio, one city ranks among the best in the U.S. for recreation.

Cincinnati, Ohio, is the fourth-best city for recreation in the U.S., according to WalletHub’s 2023 Best & Worst Cities for Recreation rankings. The rankings considered four key metrics: Entertainment and recreational facilities, including music venues, public beaches, zoos and aquarium, food festivals and more, as well as quality of parks, weather and costs.

Among the 100 U.S. cities on the list, Cincinnati ranked tied-for-first in number of coffee shops per capita, tied with Orlando, Florida; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Honolulu, Hawaii.

Cincinnati also has the fourth-lowest cost of bowling, and the eighth-best quality of parks among the 100 U.S. cities included in WalletHub’s rankings. The southwest Ohio city also ranked 13th in costs, 14th in entertainment and recreational facilities and 58th in weather.

In addition to Cincinnati, three other Ohio cities made WalletHub’s list.

Toledo (46th), Columbus (47th) and Cleveland (63rd) all also ranked among the best U.S. cities for recreation, per WalletHub’s rankings.
