Northeast Ohio weather: Warming trend begins Monday, slick commute possible Tuesday morning

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Tuesday morning with the concern for slick conditions from overnight Monday into Tuesday. Freezing rain is in the forecast that could accumulate up to a tenth of an inch or less which could lead to an icy commute for some.

The First Alert Weather team will keep an eye on this and bring you the latest information as it comes in.

This evening, some clearing overnight but we remain dry with lows dropping into the teens.

We kick off the workweek with sunshine to start followed by increasing clouds throughout the day and afternoon highs FINALLY above the freezing mark!

There’s a chance for some passing snow showers Monday afternoon but the focus will be on our next storm system approaching that will bring a mixed bag of precipitation including freezing rain overnight into Tuesday morning.

Although any snow or ice accumulation looks to be low, it still could pose a threat for the morning commute which is why we issue a First Alert Weather Day to help you prepare ahead.

Much warmer air moves into the forecast for the rest of the week as highs soar and stay above average into the 40s and even 50s on Thursday.

With rain combined with the warmth for the second half of the week, expect snowmelt which could lead to minor and localized flooding in some locations.

The weekend looks much drier at this point with temperatures still staying just above average in the low 40s.
