Man found dead in basement after house fire in Cleveland
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A man was found dead in a basement after a house fire on Puritas Avenue Sunday evening.
According Lt. Mike Norman from Cleveland Fire Depatment, firefighters responded to a house on the 18100 block of Puritas Avenue just after 6:30 p.m.
Firefighters found fire on the first floor of the home, which was a one-and-a-half story house, Lt. Norman said.
Crews were able to quickly put out the fire.
While searching the home, crews found one adult man dead in the basement, according to Lt. Norman.
Lt. Norman said the house did not appear to have working smoke alarms.
The fire is still under investigation.
