Man convicted of hitting 2 Cleveland police officers with his car

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A 43-year-old Cleveland man pleaded responsible to hitting two Cleveland law enforcement officials along with his automotive whereas attempting to flee from a McDonald’s parking zone in August 2021.

Shannon Wayne Halstead pleaded responsible to the costs of felonious assault on a peace officer and failure to adjust to the order, sign of a police officer.

Cuyahoga County Court docket of Frequent Pleas Decide David Matia sentenced Halstead to 12 years to 17 and a half years on the Lorain Correctional Establishment.

On Aug. 10, 2021, Cleveland law enforcement officials have been flagged down by the supervisor on the McDonald’s within the 5600 block of Memphis Ave. for an unconscious man in a automotive.

Officers, together with EMS, approached the operating car and tried to talk to the male, later recognized as Halstead. The suspect awoke, put the automotive into gear, and commenced going ahead and reverse. Officers ordered him to cease. Halstead then struck two officers with the car and fled the scene.

Halstead was arrested within the space of W. 66th Road and Denison avenue following a chase.

A 3rd officer was harm whereas making the arrest.
