OBITUARY

Joseph P. Fischer, age 85, of Concord Twp., passed away March 23, 2025. Beloved husband of 63 years to Mary Ann (nee Czerr), loving Father of Cheryl (friend Joe Provenzale), Renee (partner Michael Huddleston), & Andrea Immke (Jim), son of the late Agnes & Joseph Fischer, brother of Carol Brunarski (Wayne), son-in-law of the late Ann & Arthur Czerr.Joe trained with the Army National Guard of Ohio in 1960, and then joined the U.S. Air Force. The Air Force sent him to Yale University to learn the Chinese language and to study Chinese culture, distinguishing him as a Mandarin Specialist. He then served as an Intelligence Officer in Taiwan, working as a Voice Intercept Processing Specialist. Joe concluded his service at Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota, in January 1965.After earning his Bachelors of Engineering Science in Chemistry at Cleveland State University and becoming a member of Tau Beta Pi for distinguished scholarship, Joe earned his Masters of Science at John Carroll University.He retired from the Lubrizol Corporation where he was a research chemist and later a patent agent.Joe had a lifetime commitment to and love for his family, including his dogs, cats and birds. He loved his country, his Catholic faith, & found great fulfillment in being able to help people as a member of St. Vincent de Paul & Ohio Right to Life.The funeral Mass will be at St. John Vianney Church at 10:00am on April 8th. Internment is planned for a future date at Rittman Military Cemetery.
