Hudson High School temporarily locked down, teacher arrested, police say

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Hudson High School teacher was arrested Thursday morning at his home on charges linked to the school, police said.

Anthony Schupp is accused of criminal trespassing and inducing panic after trying to enter the school building while on administrative leave. Students returned Wednesday for their first day of classes.

Police arrested Schupp at about 8 a.m. Thursday at his home on Chamberlin Court in Hudson.

According to Board of Education member James Field, the school was temporarily placed on lockdown early Thursday morning before classes started when Schupp’s vehicle was seen on campus.

Schupp was removed from the school’s campus on Wednesday, but Field did not have details about the incident or why the teacher was placed on administrative leave.

In an email to parents, Jennifer Reece, the district’s communications manager, said Schupp tried to enter the school Wednesday evening, but his badge had already been disabled.

“This morning, there was an extra police presence at Hudson High School after it was discovered that the vehicle of the staff member on administrative leave was in the parking lot,” the email said.

The email said Schupp was being charged for inducing panic because his vehicle was in the parking lot.

“The Hudson Police Department will continue to work closely with the school administration to address any concerns and provide reassurance to the community,” Hudson police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
