CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cavs are one win away from locking down the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference — and with it, homecourt advantage throughout the East playoffs. They host a depleted Chicago Bulls squad on Tuesday with tipoff set for 7 p.m. Eastern on Fan Duel Sports Network.

Even with the advantage on paper, nothing is guaranteed for the Cavs.

Cleveland will be without All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell, who is sitting out with a left ankle sprain after briefly returning Sunday. It’s a smart move for the Cavs, who are prioritizing health heading into the postseason, but it leaves a big hole in their offense.

Even so, the Cavs remain focused.

With just one game standing between them and a top seed for the first time since 2016, they’ll need a full-team effort — especially on the defensive end, where they’ve shown flashes of dominance but have struggled to maintain consistency over four quarters.

The Bulls, meanwhile, arrive in Cleveland with one eye on Tuesday’s game and the other on Wednesday’s high-stakes clash against the Miami Heat — a key play-in tournament battle.

Chicago will be without Coby White, who’s resting ahead of that matchup, as well as several rotation players: Lonzo Ball, Ayo Dosunmu, Kevin Huerter, and Tre Jones are all out. Josh Giddey is questionable, dealing with a lingering forearm issue, and big man Nikola Vucevic is also a game-time decision.

If Giddey suits up, expect him to carry a heavier playmaking load for Chicago, especially with so many ball-handlers out.

That puts the pressure squarely on Cleveland to capitalize.

With Mitchell sidelined, look for Darius Garland to take the reins and dictate the pace early, while Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen battle to control the paint.
