CLEVELAND, Ohio – While Northeast Ohio might not see a White Christmas this year, that doesn’t mean snow is absent from the forecast.

The National Weather Service is calling for some areas to see heavy and blowing snow in the overnight and early-morning hours leading into the Tuesday morning commute. The highest snowfall totals (6 to 11 inches) are predicted for the higher elevations east and southeast of Cleveland with primary and secondary snowbelts potentially seeing anywhere from three to six inches of snow. Surrounding areas might only see one to three inches of snowfall.

Highs Tuesday will top out around 30 degrees with snows tapering off after 8 a.m. and eventually clearing skies by the afternoon. Overnight lows Tuesday night will drop into the low 20s. Sunshine returns Tuesday with highs around 40.

Hazardous weather outlook

The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday afternoon for Geauga and Ashtabula Counties. Heavy, blowing snow could make travel difficult for both the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes with wind chills falling into the teens.
