Grading Kyle McCord in Ohio State’s 35-7 win over Youngstown State
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Kyle McCord made his third career start as Ohio State football’s quarterback in its 35-7 win over Youngstown State, showing some improvement from Week 1.
The former five-star recruit completed 14 of his 20 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns. That included helping the Buckeyes’ two best weapons get back on track with Marvin Harrison Jr. catching seven passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns, while Emeka Egbuka had five catches for 94 yards and a touchdowns.
“The one thing that I did a good job today of was getting the ball out on time to the playmakers,” McCord said. “Getting it to them in open space and allowing them to work. Good things happened with that for sure.”

McCord took some steps forward in Week 2 coming off a performance against Indiana that had its ups and downs. But even with those steps came some things he would like to have back.
“One thing I wish I had back was probably that pass in the third quarter on that first drive I missed it to Marvin,” McCord said. “I’ve just gotta sit on that a little bit more. Let him work.
“Definitely some good, some bad. The same as last week. Take the good and build from it then take the negatives and realize what you need to work on and continue to grow.”
