CLEVELAND, Ohio – Great Clips hair salons across America will say “thank you” this Veterans Day with free haircuts for veterans.

All military veterans, reservists and active-duty personnel can visit any Great Clips salon for the free service on Nov. 10, the date Veterans Day will be observed as a federal holiday, and on Nov. 11, the actual holiday.

For those who cannot make it into a salon on one of those days, Great Clips also will provide certificates that can be given to qualifying veterans, reservists and active-duty personnel. Customers can pick up the haircut cards in a salon, which veterans can use through November.

Great Clips, founded in Minneapolis, has more than 4,200 salons throughout the United States and Canada. There are 97 locations in Northeast Ohio.

This is the 13th year the promotion will take place in Greater Cleveland. It was later expanded nationwide.

“Most of us know at least one veteran we would like to thank on that day,” Jeff Lehman, a Hudson resident and Great Clips franchisee, said in a statement. Lehman’s father and father-in-law were WWII and Korean veterans, respectively.

“Give the (free haircut) card to a veteran in your family, a neighbor or just someone you notice is a veteran to thank them for serving our country,” Lehman said. “It’s a simple, yet meaningful, way for more people to show appreciation to veterans with the help of Great Clips.”

With more than 4,000 shops, Great Clips is the world’s largest salon brand.

Hours vary by salon but are generally 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. Regular haircuts for both men and women are around $17, with seniors and children receiving a discounted price.

Customers can check in online or with their smart phone via the Great Clips app.

“We are happy to honor the men and women in NE OH who served in the military with the ‘Thank a Veteran’ promotion,” Paul Harris, president of the NE Ohio Franchisee co-op and owner of several salons in the area, said in a statement. “This program has been in place in all our Cleveland, Akron-Canton salons for 13 years now, and last year we were so proud that Great Clips picked up the free haircut for Veterans’ program nationwide.”
