Flights disrupted after man jumps Cleveland Hopkins International Airport fence
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cleveland Hopkins International Airport confirmed a ground stop was issued after a man jumped their fence on Tuesday morning.
CLE spokesperson Michele Dynia said the incident started with a motor vehicle crash on Brookpark Road around 11:30 a.m. on June 24.
Preliminary information showed one of the occupants got out of their vehicle and jumped a fence into the airport, Dynia stated.
Dynia said an Operations Agent found and apprehended the male suspect.
Police and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) were called to the suspect’s location to assist, according to Dynia.
A ground stop was issued “to ensure the airfield is safe before resuming operations” while the suspect was being apprehended, Dynia stated.
Dynia said operations have since resumed.
The incident is still under investigation.
