Crime task force members shoot and kill man in parking lot of Staples in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The Cleveland Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the parking lot of Staples located at West 117th and Berea Road on Cleveland’s West Side.

According to Cleveland Police, around 4:30 p.m., officers assigned to a Homeland Security Investigations / Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission task force were conducting a drug investigation when they encountered a man who pulled a knife, prompting two officers to shoot him.

The suspect, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two officers involved are employed by the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, according to Cleveland Police.
