Cleveland State Softball Picks up First Win of the Season over Jacksonville

Jacksonville, FL-The Cleveland State Softball staff picked up its first win of the season on Sunday, defeating Jacksonville 1-0 to shut the JU/UNF Invitational. 

The win moved the Vikings to 1-4 general on the five-game street journey to start out the season. 

Alexa Sieger offered the offense for Cleveland State. Sieger hit a two-out solo dwelling run within the first inning to supply the one scoring. She hit a 3-2 pitch over the left area wall to offer the Vikings the early lead. It’s the third profession dwelling run for Sieger, a Junior. 

Melissa Holzopfel earned the win, going the total seven innings for the complete-game shutout. She yielded simply 4 hits and struck out 9 for the sport. Total Holzopfel threw 112 pitches with 68 of them going for strikes.

The Vikings will probably be again in motion subsequent weekend, touring to Birmingham, Alabama for the UAB Blazer Invitational Friday, February 24th by way of Sunday, February 26th.
