CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) -The seven-month-long search for Michelle Arnold has come to an end. The 24-year-old went missing in October 2023. Arnold’s remains were found behind an abandoned home on Strathmore Road in East Cleveland.

“It’s been a journey, the family has gone through so many emotions from hope, maybe she not wanting to be found to okay there’s been found play to where do we find out and what do we need to do,” said Sylvia Colon.

Colon is with Cleveland Missing. She talked to 19 News on Zoom Thursday afternoon.

Cleveland Missing stepped in to help as soon as Arnold disappeared.

Surveillance video shows the Warrenville Heights woman leaving her girlfriend’s house on October 26. It was the last time anyone saw her.

Colon has been in communication with her family, who is still trying to process her death.

“They’re very confused as one would be and they are just trying to accept that this is just going to be their life, without Michelle,” said Michelle.

The community calls this closure for her family. However, Colon says it’s the first stage of grief.

“You never get closure, what you do get to do is finally grieve. They’ve not been able to grieve because of the not knowing. How do you grieve for something you don’t know,” said Colon.

Arnold’s case is still an active investigation.

Colon says if a family is still looking for their loved on, don’t give up.

It’s time for the person or persons who took Arnold’s life to be held accountable

“Michelle’s Arnold’s family never gave up hope, ever and no family should ever give up hope. Make sure you are doing your part to keep that person alive in the media,” said Arnold.
