Bentley driver who caused deadly crash on I-90 in Cleveland sentenced to 30 days in jail
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The 59-year-old man who drove a Bentley at a high rate of speed and caused a deadly crash on I-90 in March 2023 was sentenced Tuesday in front of Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge David Matia.
James Farley, of Richmond Heights, pleaded guilty last month to one count of aggravated vehicular homicide.
Farley was sentenced to 30 days in county jail, 3 years of probation and a 5 year suspension of his driver’s license plus fees and fines.
The crash happened on I-90 East at West 25th Street at approximately 2:00 p.m. on March 1, 2023.
Cleveland police said Farley’s Bentley struck a Jeep, causing the Jeep to roll onto its roof and eject its passenger.
The passenger, identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office as Samantha Nelson, of Cleveland, died from her injuries.
Farley was also injured in the accident.
The driver of the Jeep fled the scene.
According to police, before the crash Farley was either racing with or chasing a red Honda Civic and both drivers were speeding.
The driver of the Honda didn’t come into contact with either the Jeep or the Bentley and did not stop.
