54-year-old man dies after motorcycle crash in Lorain County
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a motorcycle crash that left a 54-year-old man dead in Lorain County.
The crash happened at 6 p.m. on U.S. Route 20 at State Route 58.
According to troopers, a 64-year-old man was driving a 2020 Ram 1500 when he attempted to turn southbound on State Route 58 and struck the 2017 Yamaha VMX17 motorcycle.
The man riding the motorcycle, 54-year-old Charles Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pick-up truck was transported to Oberlin Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cleveland police investigate murder of Glenville High School student
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A 16-year-old Glenville High School student was murdered this past weekend.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Anthony Gibson.
Gibson was brought to University Hospitals on Aug. 9 and died from his injuries on Aug. 10.
Cleveland Metropolitan School District Spokesperson Candice Grose released the below statement to 19 News:
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the tragic loss of one of our scholars, Anthony Gibson, over the weekend. Our hearts go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time. In response, our Humanware/Rapid Response Team are mobilized to provide grief support to the staff and scholars at Glenville. We will continue to prioritize the well-being of our school community and ensure all necessary resources are available during this challenging time.”

Ohio Lottery Marks 50th Anniversary of Ticket Sales
CLEVELAND, OH – Today marks the 50th anniversary of Ohio Lottery sales, celebrating a journey that began with the sale of the Buckeye 300 game on August 12, 1974, when tickets were priced at $.50 for a chance to win $300,000.
Since its inception, the Ohio Lottery has introduced a wide variety of games, including scratch-offs, draw games, KENO, and EZPLAY Games. Over the past five decades, the Lottery has generated $96.4 billion in sales and awarded $57.7 billion in prizes. Retailers have earned over $6.1 billion in commissions, incentives, and bonuses. The Lottery has contributed $31.5 billion to the Lottery Profits Education Fund, supporting K-12 education in Ohio.

The 50th anniversary celebrations include the release of a commemorative scratch-off game with a top prize of $15,000,000. Additionally, the Lottery will host a VIP event at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on September 7, where 150 selected winners will enjoy food, music, ticket giveaways, and activities. Five lucky attendees will share $400,000 in prizes.

Suspect Arrested for Attempted Carjacking in D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A suspect has been arrested in connection with an attempted carjacking that occurred in Northwest Washington, D.C.
On Friday, at approximately 9:47 p.m., a suspect approached a victim seated inside a vehicle on the 600 block of New York Avenue, Northwest. The suspect opened the driver’s side door, assaulted the victim, and demanded the car keys. The suspect was unable to steal the vehicle and fled the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated by D.C. Fire and EMS.
Officers responded and apprehended the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Antonio Byrd, who has no fixed address. Byrd was charged with carjacking.

Ocean City Police Searching for Suspects in Uptown Restaurant Theft
OCEAN CITY, MD — The Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) is requesting public assistance to identify individuals and a vehicle linked to a recent theft. The incident occurred near a restaurant located at the area of 128th Street on August 9, 2024, around 5:58 PM.
Authorities are looking for a silver four-door hatchback with significant damage on the driver’s side, which is believed to be involved in the theft. The OCPD has released images of the subjects and the vehicle to aid in their identification.
Members of the public who have any information about the theft or recognize the vehicle and subjects in the images are encouraged to contact PFC Kautz at ckautz@oceancitymd.gov, referencing case number CC# 2024-003671. 14-Year-Old Among Two Injured in Baltimore Shooting
BALTIMORE, Md. – A shooting in the 500 block of North Glover Street on Saturday night left a 14-year-old boy in critical condition and a 41-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries.
Southeast District patrol officers responded to the scene at approximately 9:19 p.m. following a report of gunfire. Both victims were transported by medics to local hospitals for treatment.
