Parents protest closure of St. Dominic Catholic School in Crest Hill: ‘We rely on each other’

CREST HILL, Sick. (WLS) — Mother and father of scholars at St. Dominic Catholic Faculty have been protesting the college’s closure.

They stated they wish to combat to maintain the doorways open.

In an effort to attract consideration to their trigger, St. Dominic Catholic Faculty mother and father are protesting to voice their issues.

“We’re a neighborhood, so I really feel leaving my youngsters secure with anybody at this faculty. We assist one another. We depend on one another. We’ve made long-lasting buddies and the children have made superb buddies,” stated Iris Alvarado, a dad or mum.

The Catholic faculty is closing after greater than 50 years on the finish of this month. The Diocese stated it is due to declining enrollment.

“Our hearts are heavy at the moment, however management at each the diocese and the college have come to the identical unhappy conclusion: The time has come to shut St. Dominic Catholic Faculty,” the Diocese stated in an announcement.

Nonetheless, mother and father are hoping they will change the minds of college leaders, saying if they’d extra time, they may fundraise and save their faculty.

Mother and father stated they plan to protest exterior of their native church buildings this weekend and can meet with the Diocese on Tuesday.
