Man charged with DUI after crashing into Illinois State Police squad car on I-55 near Darien

DARIEN, Ailing. (WLS) — An Illinois State Police sergeant escaped unhurt when his automobile was hit by a driver Friday evening on I-55 in DuPage County.

In line with an ISP launch, the sergeant was investigating a crash on the interstate northbound close to Lemont Highway when a driver smashed into his automobile whereas he was in it.

The driving force of the Dodge, Porfirio Alverez Jr., a 34-year-old male of Hickory Hills, IL, was arrested for driving inebriated. He was additionally cited for not complying with Scott’s Regulation, which requires drivers to maneuver over for an emergency automobile.

Alvarez was not injured within the crash.

That is the eleventh Scott’s Regulation violation involving an ISP squad automobile already this 12 months.
