CHICAGO (WLS) — Governor JB Pritzker will signal a invoice into legislation Friday to crack down on smash-and-grab burglaries and different retail theft.

The governor hopes that the organized retail crime act will present higher instruments to assist maintain criminals accountable and shut prosecution loopholes, particularly relating to criminals who’re orchestrating smash and seize robberies and looting.

In latest months, Chicago has seen a rash of organized retail thefts alongside Michigan Avenue together with the Gucci retailer, Burberry and Macy’s.

Items have been stolen by thieves or teams of thieves and it is a pattern retailers have been seeing for some time inflicting severe issues about security downtown.
