Arkansas police investigating Black Friday shooting at mall in Little Rock
Police in Little Rock, Arkansas, were investigating a shooting that took place during Black Friday afternoon at the Park Plaza Mall, according to reports.
Authorities received a report about an “active aggressor” just before 2 p.m., FOX 16 reported.
Mark Edwards with the Little Rock Police Department told the Arkansas Democrat Gazette the shooting was an “isolated incident.”

“I haven’t heard of any fatalities,” Edwards told the Gazette. “I’ve heard maybe a couple of non-life threatening injuries, but nothing fatal.”

Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr said in a statement that the actions of two people had “jeopardized the lives” of shoppers.
“The careless, senseless and criminal actions of two individuals today jeopardized the lives and safety of residents and visitors. We are praying for the victims of this incident, and are hopeful they make a full recovery,” he said in a statement posted to X.
“Gun violence is unacceptable at any time or in any place,” he added. We trust those responsible for this will be held fully accountable for their dangerous and reckless decisions. We are grateful to our law enforcement officers, first responders, mall security, and employees, and everyone who acted quickly to ensure safety and protect others.”
It wasn’t clear if any arrests had been made.
Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is one of the biggest shopping days of the year, as shoppers start buying Christmas gifts and sellers advertise huge markdowns.

Nebraska softball defeats South Dakota via comeback in NCAA Regional opener
LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) -Nebraska softball defeated South Dakota 4-1 in the opening game of its first NCAA Regional at Bowlin Stadium since 2013.
South Dakota took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when Wahoo native Autumn Iverson hit a home run to left field that struck the scoreboard. The Coyotes started five players from Nebraska in their lineup.
Nebraska tied the game in the fifth inning when Hannah Coor hit a two-out triple up the middle that rolled to the wall, scoring Jordy Frahm.
Hannah Camenzind followed with a fly ball to right field that scored Coor with the go-ahead run. Camenzind was thrown out attempting to stretch the hit into a triple, ending the inning.
The Huskers added insurance runs in the sixth inning when Kacie Hoffmann, an Elkhorn South alum, hit an RBI double that scored Samantha Bland and Kennadi Williams to make it 4-1.
Frahm closed out the game in the seventh inning. Bella Bacon caught a line drive for the final out.
Nebraska will play Grand Canyon on Saturday at noon in the winner’s bracket.

MILWAUKEE – The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of southeast Wisconsin late Friday night. It remains in effect until 5 a.m. on Saturday, May 16.
The watch covers Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth and Waukesha counties. Storms could produce gusty wind and hail.
