Sewage tank failure caused 600K gallon sludge spill at southwest Houston wastewater treatment plant
Houston Public Works officials said Tuesday they were cleaning sewage sludge from an area of the Almeda Sims Wastewater Treatment Plant in southwest Houston following a storage tank rupture. About 600,000 gallons of partially treated sewage solids, known as sludge, spilled from the failed holding tank between 5 and 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, officials said.
