Score Predictions for West Virginia vs. Campbell

The West Virginia Mountaineers and the Campbell Fighting Camels will meet for the first time in Morgantown on Thursday night. WVU is once again favored by double digits, but how will it all unfold? Our picks for tonight’s game are in.

I expect the Mountaineers to shoot a more efficient ball tonight, but with how they defend deep into the shot clock, it’ll be a pretty low-possession game, and the Camels aren’t really wanting to get out and run either.

While Treysen Eaglestaff needs to get more involved offensively, my bigger concern is with the big guy underneath, Harlan Obioha. He was virtually a non-factor in the win over Mount St. Mary’s, and those types of performances can’t continue, especially against inferior competition. WVU is already thin in the frontcourt as it is, so they really need Obioha to play up to his potential.

West Virginia wins, but it’s another game where they fail to pull away.

Campbell poses little threat to the Mountaineers. The Fighting Camels have not earned an NCAA bid since the 1991-92 season and earned their last postseason invitation following the 2018-19 season. and have endured losing seasons in the two years, although guard DJ Smith aims to change their fortunes after posting 23 points in the 96-63 loss at No. 24 Wisconsin Monday night.

As for West Virginia, the Mountaineers are “a work in progress,” as stated by head coach Ross Hodge following the 70-54 win over Mount St. Mary’s Tuesday night.

Hoss credited the offense’s slow start to the season stemmed from the defensive effort the team is unaccustomed to, and it was no surprise his two transfers from North Texas led the team in scoring, Jasper Floyd and Brenen Lorient.

Two games in three days give little time for the Mountaineers to improve in the season opener, so I suspect this game may remain closer than fans would like. I expect the defense to carry the Mountaineers, and better rebounding numbers as well, which making free throws will limit those opportunities. Nonetheless, West Virginia wins comfortably, 77-62.

New lottery game starts Sunday – WV MetroNews

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Lottery will roll out a new multi-state daily game this weekend. The first drawing is set for Sunday in the new “Millionaire for Life” game.

“This game doesn’t have an actual ‘jackpot’ it has a top prize, so no matter what one million dollars is the top prize,” said Erin Coats Traditional Lottery Manager for the West Virginia Lottery.

There are 31 other states who participate in “Millionaire for Life.” Unlike the state’s other multi state games like Powerball and MegaMillions, this drawing is every day of the week.

It’s a game Coats believed would be quite popular among West Virginia Lottery players.

“You pick your numbers and also there’s a ‘Millionaire ball’ so just like Powerball,” she explained. “A lot of our surrounding states have already had some form of this game in the past. We’ve heard from players this is something they would be interested in. ”

The top prize is $1 million a year for life, an annuity with a guaranteed 20 year payout or a one time top prize. The second prize is $100,000 for life. The game has eight tiers of winners and the lower tiers can be cashed in at lottery retailers.

“That is the jackpot of a lifetime. We are excited about this new game and the adventures it will bring to our state, but also want to always encourage responsible gameplay,” said West Virginia Lottery Acting Director David Bradley.

Predicting the Final Score Between West Virginia and TCU

The Mountaineers haven’t lost consecutive games since they fell to Clemson and Xavier in the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic at the beginning of the season. Can West Virginia avoid its second losing streak of the season? Here are our picks.

Schuyler Callihan: TCU 61, West Virginia 54

The level of intensity and urgency in the game against Utah was extremely concerning to me. It’s a game they knew they could not afford to drop, and yet they played as if they still had 20 games to prove themselves. I also wasn’t a big fan of some of the things being said by the players postgame. Not that they said anything wrong, they just looked and sounded defeated. Are they going to be able to find some answers offensively in a matter of a couple of days? I don’t think so.

I’ve got this one as another defensive slugfest that pretty much puts an end to whatever is left of WVU’s tournament hopes.

Christopher Hall: West Virginia 67, TCU 66

West Virginia has lost seven of the last eight games in Fort Worth, and after the abysmal performance Wednesday night in the home loss to Utah, there’s not much confidence the Mountaineers can steal another road win.

TCU has won the last three of four at home, including a win over Iowa State, and held the Cyclones to a mere 55 points. The Horned Frogs started the Big 12 slate 1-4, but the group has turned their season around and sits one game below .500 at 6-7 in league play.

The Mountaineers have lacked consistency on offense and would do themselves favors to hit the good looks they get, especially in the opening minutes. And there are times they’re two steps behind their opponents and look nothing like the team that knocked off Kansas or the group that has won three of their last four games.

Jamie Dixon’s teams will always be tough defensively, even though during Big 12 play this season, they are in the bottom half of the league. Again, they have improved and have two forwards, David Punch and Xavier Edmonds, who will attack the rim.

West Virginia is in danger of missing the NCAA tournament, and with five games remaining, there’s little room for error. Maybe they come out with a sense of urgency and execute at a high level, and maybe they will be the aggressors from the outset. This group has played freely on the road, and I believe they hit some big shots to pull off the win, 67-66.
