Six-Day Hold for Kick Time at NC State

THE FLATS – Kickoff time for Georgia Tech football’s Nov. 1 game at NC State has been placed on a six-day hold, the Atlantic Coast Conference and its television partners announced on Monday. Game time for the Georgia Tech-NC State contest will be determined following the conclusion of games this Saturday, Oct. 25.

No. 7 Georgia Tech enters this Saturday’s homecoming game versus Syracuse with its highest regular-season ranking since 2009 and its first 7-0 record since 1966. The Yellow Jackets are also riding a nine-game winning streak at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field dating back to the beginning of last season, their most consecutive wins at Bobby Dodd since they won 17 in a row at home from 1989-91.

Saturday’s homecoming game versus Syracuse kicks off at noon. In addition to celebrating homecoming on The Flats for the 76^th time, Georgia Tech will also commemorate the 10^th anniversary of the “Miracle on Techwood Drive” win over Florida State in 2015 during Saturday’s game. With a fanbase that has been reenergized by the Yellow Jackets’ success, attendance at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field is up 24% over this time in 2024. Fans can still be a part of the excitement on The Flats, as tickets remain for the Yellow Jackets’ final two home games at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field in 2025.

Full Steam Ahead

Full Steam Ahead is a $500 million fundraising initiative to achieve Georgia Tech athletics’ goal of competing for championships at the highest level in the next era of intercollegiate athletics. Georgia gymnastics improves record to 9-2 at Metroplex Challenge

No. 6 Georgia defeated No. 10 Stanford (196.400), No. 20 Cal (196.8750) and Air Force (195.750) with a team score of 197.650 on Saturday at the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. This marks Georgia’s highest score on the road from Athens this season.

To close out the meet, the Bulldogs accomplished a season high on bars, with a score of 49.475. Leading the event for Georgia, senior Csenge Bácskay and junior Lily Smith tied for first in the event, both scoring a 9.950. This win was not only her first for the season, but it also marked a new career high for Bácskay.

On the vault, sophomore Nyla Aquino and junior Ady Wahl split a four-way tie for the event title. Both Bulldogs achieved new season highs on the event with scores of 9.925.

Smith, Georgia’s leader on the floor, scored a 9.975 for the event. This secured her seventh-floor title this season. Freshman Kelise Woolford improved to a new season best on the beam with a score of 9.950, winning the event title.

The Bulldogs will return to Stegeman Coliseum on Friday, Feb. 20, for a top-10 matchup, hosting No. 5-ranked Florida.

Georgia Equestrian Falls to No. 5 South Carolina – University of Georgia Athletics

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – The No. 1 ranked Georgia equestrian team fell to fifth-ranked South Carolina, 16-3, at One Wood Farm in Blythewood, S.C.

Fast Facts

South Carolina defeated the Bulldogs 4-1 in the Horsemanship competition. Senior Alyvia Dixon earned the lone point for Georgia, riding to a new season high score of 76.75 and tallying her seventh win of the season.

The Gamecocks overtook the Bulldogs in Fences 4-1. Sophomore Ella Witt captured her point over South Carolina’s Amirah Kettaneh, 82-81.5. Tessa Downey added a score of 82.5, despite not earning the point.

Georgia secured one of the four points in Flat against South Carolina. Ella Duffy rode to a score of 80, overtaking Mary Hunter Millet’s score of 69. Kingsley Dey led the Flat scores with an 81.

South Carolina took the win in Reining 4-0. Kennedy Buchanan earned a score of 70 for her performance, pushing her point against Alexis Potts. Shelby Lynch rode to a 71, leading the Bulldogs’ scoring in the discipline.

Sunday’s strong to severe storms will impact Southeast Georgia, Northeast Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A strong cold front is moving west to east from the lower Mississippi Valley and will reach our area on Sunday.

Ahead of it, our Sunday will start off windy and with unusually warm conditions during the day. South winds will run 15–25 mph, with gusts up to 40-45 mph. The National Weather Service could issue a wind advisory. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the area in a Marginal to Slight Risk for severe storms.

Sunday headlines

By early to mid-afternoon, beginning after 1 p.m., a main line of storms is expected to move into western areas and push east through the evening. Some scattered storms could pop up ahead of the main line. As the storms organize, a few could produce damaging wind gusts, and there’s a small chance of an isolated tornado, especially from inland Northeast Florida into inland Southeast Georgia.

The main squall line will weaken as it moves east Sunday night. While a severe storm can’t be ruled out early in the evening, the threat should decrease after about 8–9 p.m. as the atmosphere stabilizes and the cold front pushes through.

Rain chances will drop off overnight, and cooler air will filter in behind the front, with lows falling into the 50s.
