LAPD searches for hit-and-run driver who killed pedestrian in Westlake

The Los Angeles Police Department is looking for the driver of a Nissan who struck and killed a pedestrian in an alley in the Westlake neighborhood the night of Dec. 2.

At about 11 p.m., a pedestrian was in an alley west of Westlake Avenue and north of Wilshire Boulevard when a silver Nissan Sentra hit him, police said in a news release.

The man, whose name and age have not been released, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Sentra, which is believed to be from the years 2007-12, fled the scene without stopping to help. Video of the Sentra can be seen here.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available for information leading to the driver.

Hospital needs help identifying man found unconscious in downtown Los Angeles

A hospital needs help identifying a male patient who was found injured and unconscious in downtown Los Angeles.

The man is believed to be in his 30s, according to the Los Angeles General Medical Center. 

He was found injured on the ground on Omar Street and has been hospitalized since June 22.

He stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 176 pounds. He has brown eyes, dark brown hair and tattoos across his upper body.

He did not have any personal belongings to help staff identify him or contact loved ones. Workers did not disclose the nature of his injuries.
