Suspect on the run nearly a week after deadly crash
Authorities are asking the public for help Tuesday, nearly one week after a motorist fled from a deadly crash on the 10 Freeway in Banning.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the violent collision on the eastbound 10 near 8th Street just after 12:30 a.m. on March 13.
Arriving officers found a 29-year-old woman down in the No. 4 lane of the freeway, a CHP news release issued Tuesday stated.
The release did not identify the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the woman was walking within the lanes of the freeway when she was struck by an unknown vehicle that left the scene.
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Anyone with information about the case or who may have witnessed the crash was asked to contact the CHP at 951-846-5300.

Hospital needs help identifying man found unconscious in downtown Los Angeles
A hospital needs help identifying a male patient who was found injured and unconscious in downtown Los Angeles.
The man is believed to be in his 30s, according to the Los Angeles General Medical Center.
He was found injured on the ground on Omar Street and has been hospitalized since June 22.
He stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 176 pounds. He has brown eyes, dark brown hair and tattoos across his upper body.
He did not have any personal belongings to help staff identify him or contact loved ones. Workers did not disclose the nature of his injuries.
