After a few inches of snow fell in Delaware Monday night, the National Weather Service is calling for snow to turn into sleet and rain early Tuesday across the region.
With slippery conditions expected for the Tuesday morning commute, here are some early delays and cancelations in Delaware announced Monday night.
Schools
Appoquinimink School District – Two-hour delay Tuesday.
Brandywine School District – Two-hour delay for all schools and offices Tuesday.
Christina School District – Two-hour delay. All pre-school programs cancelled.
Colonial School District – Two-hour delay Tuesday. No morning half-day pre-K. All after-school activities and programs are canceled.

Milford School District – 90-minute delay Tuesday. No breakfast or morning pre-k.
New Castle County Vocational Technical School District – Two-hour delay Tuesday.
Polytech School District– Closed Tuesday. All afternoon tutoring, athletic events, extracurricular activities and activity bus runs are cancelled.
Red Clay School District – Two-hour delay Tuesday. No half-day pre-k.
Smyrna School District – Closed Tuesday with all after-school and evening activities canceled. All essential personnel and 12-month employees are to await further direction from their direct supervisors, and all ten-month employees will receive further direction via email.

MUNCIE, IN — Five individuals and one organization were recognized for their contributions to Delaware County during the annual ViVA (Very Important Volunteer Award) luncheon on April 14, according to a community announcement.
The event, hosted by the Muncie Noon Rotary Club in partnership with the Muncie Sunrise Rotary Club, has been a tradition since 1993. The ViVA Awards celebrate those who dedicate their time and resources to uplift the community.
Vickie Armstrong Oliver, Ken Glaub, Dottie Kreps and Beth Kroehler each received individual ViVA Awards for their volunteer efforts and commitment to various causes.
The Muncie Central High School Alumni Association was presented with the 2026 ViVA Organizational Award. Since 1995, the association has supported the high school through philanthropy and historical preservation.
The association has awarded more than $76,000 in scholarships to seniors and nearly $39,000 in teacher grants. It has also financed various campus needs, including the restoration of the school’s Abraham Lincoln statue. The board maintains a public Memorabilia Room to preserve the school’s legacy.
Linda Gregory received the Edmund F. Ball Lifetime Achievement Award for her lifelong dedication to service in the community.
