Rhode island fugitive captured in Connecticut


(WFSB) – On Wednesday, The U.S. Marshals in Connecticut and Rhode Island, along with Rhode Island and Connecticut police, arrested a man wanted on robbery charges in Rhode Island.

Rhode Island police identified 34-year-old Mark Heath of Killingly, Connecticut, as the suspect in a December armed robbery.

The robbery took place on December 28, 2023, in the 180 block of Hartford Turnpike.

A warrant was issued for Heath’s arrest. He was charged with first-degree armed robbery, according to police.

On Wednesday, Heath was arrested at a hotel in the 700 block of Hartford Pike in Dayville, Connecticut.

Heath was transported to CT State Police Troop D while he waited to be extradited to Rhode Island.

“Two acquaintances of Heath were found to have failure to appear warrants from the State of Connecticut and were also transported to Troop D for processing,” police said in a statement.

Oil truck rollover closes road in Scituate


A rollover crash caused a road closure in Scituate Monday evening.

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said they received a report for a heating truck rollover at 4 p.m.

Officials said the crash happened on West Greenville Road.

The truck was carrying approximately 2,000 to 2,500 gallons of home heating oil.

Officials said it is unclear how much oil spilled into the road.

It is unclear when the street will reopen.
