2 bull elk shot in north-central Wyoming test positive for chronic wasting disease

CODY – Two bull elk shot by hunters in north-central Wyoming have examined optimistic for power losing illness.

The Wyoming Sport and Fish Division confirmed the presence of the illness in Elk Hunt Areas 47 and 49. The elk had been shot on Oct. 12 and Oct. 15.

Elk Hunt Areas 47 and 49 are situated within the Cody Area and are bordered by areas that beforehand detected CWD in elk. To the east, CWD was verified in Hunt Areas 34 in 2015 and 48 in 2017. In 2018 CWD was detected in Hunt Space 66 to the northwest, and in 2020 it was present in Hunt Space 45 to the north.
