SF Glen Park residents lose water service after main break
Some San Francisco residents were without water Sunday afternoon after a water main in Glen Park broke, with video posted to social media showing a small fountain of brown water bursting onto the street.
District 8 Supervisor Rafael Mandelman posted on social media at 3:02 p.m. that people should avoid the corner of Chenery Street between Thor Avenue and Diamond Street, and that “surrounding residents will be without water for an extended period of time.”
At 5:47 p.m., the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission posted that workers were repairing the break, and that water service would return Sunday evening. “Pockets of customers in the Sutro Reservoir Pressure Zone will continue to experience low or no water pressure until repairs are completed,” the commission posted.
Another video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, apparently during the water main break, showed an autonomous Cruise car stuck at the intersection of Chenery Street and Diamond Street, forcing a Muni bus and other vehicles to go around it.
