New Mexico’s credit unions celebrate Financial Literacy Month


The Credit score Union Affiliation of New Mexico and New Mexico’s credit score unions introduced New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham declared April as Monetary Literacy Month. 

The proclamation states, “Whereas, being community-based, not-for-profit, monetary cooperatives, Credit score Unions perceive the limitations to monetary well-being inside their communities and take motion to make sure that New Mexicans have reasonably priced monetary providers together with entry to high quality monetary literacy schooling to assist members construct credit score, to save lots of for deliberate and unplanned occasions, and for different monetary priorities; and…”

Credit score unions throughout the state demonstrated this dedication by taking part in New Mexico Credit score Unions READ to Assist Monetary Literacy.

On April 18, 89 volunteers from 13 New Mexico credit score unions learn to 208 lecture rooms and 4,317 elementary youngsters. CUANM’s Basis offered the guide, “A Chair for My Mom” by Vera B. Williams in both English or Spanish, together with curriculum in each languages, to be left with lecturers to encourage extra monetary literacy classes of their lecture rooms.

Middle Tennessee State football will honor its seniors when the Blue Raiders play host to New Mexico State Saturday (1:30 p.m., ESPN+) at Floyd Stadium.

The Blue Raiders (3-7, 2-4 Conference USA) were eliminated from bowl contention with a 37-17 loss to Liberty two weeks ago. MTSU had an open date last week.

New Mexico State (2-8, 1-5) has lost three in a row and eight of nine, including a 38-3 loss to Texas A&M last week. A 33-30 CUSA win over Louisiana Tech is the only victory in that stretch.
