IDAHO FALLS – A legacy mattress retailer in downtown Idaho Falls is relocating after 64 years of enterprise.

Romaine’s Mattress King, which started operation in 1959 at 401 E Road, shall be shifting to a brand new constructing on the nook of Hitt Street and John Adams in April.

Proprietor Jake Heaton tells EastIdahoNews.com the brand new 30,000-square-foot constructing will permit them to raised serve clients.

“It will permit us to have extra choices in a single location,” Heaton says. “We solely have 17,000-square-feet of usable area (on the present location), so it will roughly double our dimension.”

And Heaton says the brand new retailer may have much less overhead prices, which suggests costs will stay aggressive.

Heaton is the grandson of the unique house owners, Don and Romaine, for whom the enterprise is known as. The Heaton’s bought the downtown property in 1959.

Jake says his grandparents merged an outdated service station, grocery retailer, metal store and two different buildings into what it’s now. The couple had been wanting to enter enterprise and their idea was a lot less complicated again then.

“My grandma would make these little felt crops and work. That’s after they determined to get into unfinished furnishings with their paint,” Jake says.

In the end, the Heaton’s determined to specialise in mattresses.

Don and Romaine operated the store for about 40 years earlier than promoting the enterprise to their son, Carey, within the late Nineties.
