BOISE―The Idaho Community Foundation and the Nonprofit Center, formerly the Idaho Nonprofit Center, announced Sept. 15 that they will relocate to a new downtown Boise office. Beginning Oct. 5, the foundation’s philanthropic and nonprofit services will be housed together at 250 S. 5th Street, ste. 450, in Boise.

The move marks a significant milestone for the foundation and the Nonprofit Center, reflecting the organization’s continued growth and its expanding role in serving communities across Idaho.

Idaho Community Foundation’s current location at 210 W. State Street in Boise was originally designed and built by Tourtellotte and Company in 1904 for a paint and glass dealer named Daniel Caswell, who only lived in the residence for three years before selling it to James Laidlaw.

According to the ICF, since the foundation purchased its historic State Street home in 2000, the building has stood as a symbol of generosity, made possible by a group of donors who envisioned a permanent, collaborative home for the organization. That legacy has anchored the foundation’s work for more than two decades.

“As Idaho has grown, so has the Idaho Community Foundation,” said Steve Burns, the foundation’s president and CEO. “Our State Street home has served us incredibly well, and we are deeply grateful for the donors who made it possible. As we look to the future, our new office will provide the space and flexibility we need to continue strengthening communities across Idaho.”

The foundation’s programs, partnerships and staff have expanded significantly in recent years to meet growing needs across the state. In 2024, the Idaho Nonprofit Center merged into the foundation, establishing the Nonprofit Center as one of its programs and further expanding its capacity to support Idaho’s nonprofit sector.

The new office will offer improved accessibility, enhanced collaborative workspaces and the infrastructure needed to support the foundation’s long-term vision to grow the culture of philanthropy and elevate nonprofit impact throughout Idaho, ICF staff said.

“This move honors our past and positions us for the future,” said Walt Sinclair, the foundation’s board chair. “We remain grounded in the generosity that built our State Street home, and we are excited for the opportunities this new space will create for ICF and the communities we serve.”

The foundation will complete its move in October and said it will share additional information later this fall about opportunities for community members and partners to visit the new space.
